Origin

“Synergy” traces its roots back to the ancient Greek word “synergos,” a fascinating compound of “syn-” (together) and “ergon” (work). For centuries, its primary home was within theology, where it described the cooperation between divine grace and human will in spiritual salvation. But fast forward to the 20th century, and this powerful concept was dramatically resurrected. Management theorists and scientists, seeking to describe the magical effect of parts creating a whole greater than themselves, rediscovered the term.
